Millions of people go missing each year and there are as many as 100,000 active missing persons cases in the U.S. at any given time. While some of these stories have happy endings, sometimes the events surrounding the disappearance, and eventual discovery of their loved ones, are so bizarre that friends and families are left with more questions than answers. Could harsh environments or predatory animals explain what happened, or is something more sinister to blame?
