🏦 Standard Chartered, Animoca Brands, and HKT are launching a Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin and seeking an HKMA license under Hong Kong’s upcoming stablecoin bill. The trio has been part of the city’s stablecoin sandbox since July 2024. The bill, introduced in December 2024, will require issuers to secure a license and meet stability requirements.
