The Minnesota Wild continued their winning ways by completing a season sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 5-3 win at Xcel Energy Center Friday night. The Wild improved to 7-1-2 and rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the second period thanks to the 5th goal of the season from Joel Eriksson Ek. The Wild took a 2-1 lead on a goal from Brock Faber, his 2nd of the season. After the Lightning tied the score at 2-2, Kirill Kaprizov scored his first goal of the game to give the Wild a 3-2 lead. Matt Boldy added an empty netter, his 5th goal of the year to make it 4-2, but the Lightning scored an extra attacker goal to make it 4-3. Kaprizov scored his second goal of the night to cap the scoring and seal the win with the net empty. The Wild improved to 2-0-1 at home to start the year. The Wild were 0/2 on the Power Play and went 2/4 on the Penalty Kill. Filip Gustavsson stopped 27 of 30 shots to pick up the win. The Wild host Toronto on Sunday for their next game.
