Episode 870
Chris Russell and David Harrison host your Locked On Washington Football Team Podcast bringing you news, analysis and everything between as it pertains to the NFL and the WFT.
Entering the weekend with matching 2-2 records, the Washington Football Team fell to the New Orleans Saints, 33-22. For the first time all season the WFT defense held an opponent scoreless on their first drive of the game. To make it more interesting, it was Washington linebacker Cole Holcomb intercepting New Orleans quarterback Jameis Winston to break the four-game streak of opening drive scores.
Later, WFT defensive end Chase Young tallied his first sack of the 2021 NFL Season, and it came in the form of a strip-sack. The fumble recovered by Daron Payne gave Washington two takeaways in the first quarter.
However, Winston's four touchdown passes, including an end of first half hail mary completion to wide receiver Marquez Callaway and a 72-yard catch and run by Deonte Harris, helped get their squad the win.
Washington now heads into a Week 6 battle with the Kanas City Chiefs with a 2-3 record while the Saints enter their bye week at 3-2.
In this episode, we recap the game, give our immediate analysis and reactions, and name our plays and players of the game. We also hear from a couple of Washington Football Team fans who called in shortly after the gun, to let the rest of the fan base know their thoughts as well.
