In the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft the Washington Commanders selected Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman, Phidarian Mathis.
We examine the reasoning behind the pick and how he fits with fellow defensive linemen Jonathan Allen, Montez Sweat, Chase Young, and Daron Payne on Jack Del Rio's front line.
Then, we dive into other scenarios the Commanders could have entertained when making the pick, before filing our final grade for the selection of Mathis.
Finally, with the draft over, Washington signed several undrafted free agents including quarterback Cole Kelley from Southeastern Louisiana and Arizona State tight end Curtis Hodges.
