Description
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
You’ve probably heard this quote before, but what does it mean? Perhaps it is meant to encourage us to view our lives through the eyes of the spirit rather than the eyes of humanity.
Through the eyes of humanity, we can view this life as what is real, with all its ups and downs, while the unseen spirit world is distant – something we may or may not know after we die.
Through the eyes of the spirit, we can view this life as a journey through a divinely orchestrated illusion that is intentioned for our souls to learn and evolve – the human experience insignificant while the spiritual experience is the goal.
I tend toward the second vantage point – I prefer to view life through the eyes of the spirit. Yet, the human experience plays significant roles in the spiritual experience, and we cannot bypass the human experiences. In fact, we can have a lot of fun here. Nor can we discount the wisdom that comes from the Nature of Being Human.
Is there a way to have both the humanity eyes and spiritual eyes open and integrate life’s experiences into a comprehensive harmonious event? In today’s Prayer & Healing Circle, we’ll engage in a practice to integrate the human and spirit experience – to bring more harmony and joy to life.
