Pain, pain, go away! And don’t come back another day! Isn’t that how we speak to our pain? “I can’t wait until this pain goes away!” “Why won’t you just go away?” Whether it’s physical, mental or emotional pain, we just want to be out of the pain.

As a bodyworker, I was trained to tune in to the pain, to be present with it, to listen to it and allow it to direct me to what it needed to be able to open and unfold and release. It’s a very effective technique for restoring the body to a pain-free functional state. The same process works for healing the energy body and the emotions. It’s not comfortable to be present with the discomfort, but great benefit can come from it.

Our bodies are speaking to us all the time. When we don’t listen, it speaks louder. Something inside wants to be heard, to be known, to be understood. Just like us. This will be the focus of today’s Prayer & Healing Circle – to take the time to be present with the discomfort, to listen to what it has to say, to make space for it to unfold, to unify the disconnected parts of ourselves with the whole. This is a key to loving and accepting ourselves completely.
