This past week, I was in a City Council meeting defending my father’s home from encroachment of a new development – the home where I grew up and lived my entire childhood. At the same time, my spiritual home – the spiritual retreat center and community center where I lived and worked for many years, where I grew up spiritually – was burning to the ground.

I had to ask, “What is the message You are sending” As I sat in meditation with this question, I felt a deep letting go – a release. I felt a sense of detachment and was filled with a sense of expansion as if I could fly.

When God wants to elevate us, we have to let go of the things we cling to for security. True security is only found in God. Everything else is only temporary, and the security it provides can be fleeting.

In today’s Prayer & Healing Circle, we offer prayers for all who have lost their possessions and dear loved ones in the fires; we pray for all who have lost loved ones and their means of security through the virus pandemic; we pray for all who are facing storms and disasters of any kind whose security on this planet are at risk.

We pray for their hearts to be healed, for their physical and materials needs to be met, for their memories to be cherished, their trust to be strengthened, and for them to soar higher than before into the future that awaits.
