Healing the Wounds of Hypocrisy

Healing the Wounds of Hypocrisy

Published 3 years, 4 months ago
Description

We’ve all experienced hypocrisy – from religious institutions, governments, schools, the justice system, the legal system, from our parents and families . It’s impossible to avoid, and its effects can be detrimental.

While working with a client this week, we uncovered a root cause of a long-held wound. It was the experience of hypocrisy. The wound was protected by a hard wall. What surfaced from it was anger, bitterness, and hostility. There was a refusal to hear anything that came from certain sources, even a rebellion against any suggestion they made, regardless of its validity. Sometimes this even meant depriving himself, even hurting himself.

But how is it that when one person makes a suggestion, we can evaluate it and if we disagree, we simply say, “No thank you.”

Yet when another makes perhaps even the same suggestion, we reinforce the walls, or go into a rage and want to burn their house down.

And still others, we put the blinders on and pretend everything is okay. We accept it as just the way this is, and we live with it.

In this case, we discovered what made the difference was the experience of hypocrisy. What gives the experience of hypocrisy so much power over us?

This is the exploration of today’s Meditation & Healing Circle. We seek to heal the wounds from hypocrisy so that we can be with the present moment, evaluate and discern what is best for us, and open to the love that is present behind our faults.
