In Episode 1209, Sean Woodley is joined by Katie Heindl (DIME, Basketball Feelings) to discuss the potential downsides of the Toronto Raptors trading for disgruntled Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, before taking a look at the Raptors' Summer League roster. Off the top, Sean and Katie talk about the risks involved with a Durant trade, and why any comparisons to the plunge Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster took in acquiring Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs simply don't compute. Next, they talk about whether the Raptors should be wary of becoming known as the franchise that will quickly ship off beloved franchise icons in the interest of superstar acquisitions. Doing it once with DeMar DeRozan made some sense and led to a championship -- but is it worth gaining that reputation even further for a KD deal, especially if it comes at the cost of one of Scottie Barnes or Pascal Siakam? Lastly, Sean and Katie take a look at the Vegas Summer League roster the Raptors announced on Monday, which includes some fun names like Dalano Banton, Justin Champagnie, DJ Wilson and CEBL standout Christian Vital, but also includes Rodions Kurucs, whose history of domestic violence combined with his very clear lack of NBA-level talent is a puzzling and disappointing inclusion on the team.
