On August 28 2003, Catholic Archbishop Geremias Steinmetz of the Archdiocese of Londrina in Brazil gave Holy Communion in the hand to Sheik Ahmad Saleh Mahairi. The bishop cited Vatican II in defense of his actions: “They worship the One God, living and subsistent, merciful and omnipotent.”
