The Detroit Tigers edged out the Baltimore Orioles with a thrilling 4-3 victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Sunday. Kerry Carpenter was the standout performer for the Tigers, belting two home runs and driving in two RBIs in a 2-for-3 effort. Spencer Torkelson added a solo shot to help pad the scoring. On the mound, Tyler Holton started strong with two scoreless innings, and despite a shaky 2.1 innings from Ty Madden, the combination of Sean Guenther, Brenan Hanifee, Will Vest, and Jason Foley kept the Orioles mostly at bay. Foley nailed down the save, his 26th of the year. Baltimore's Cedric Mullins tried to rally his team with a 2-run homer in the 5th inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome Detroit's early lead. The Tigers' pitching staff struck out ten Orioles and scattered six hits to secure the win, bringing their season record to 81-74.
