Supernatural: There Will Be Blood (7x22) | Recap & Lore

Season 7 Episode 22 Published 1 year, 8 months ago
Description

Supernatural Season 7, Episode 22, There Will Be Blood recap 🩸 The boys need blood from Crowley, a fallen angel, and the Alpha Vampire, and Dick Roman wants it first, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

With Kevin’s translation in hand, Sam and Dean set out to collect three bloods to take down the Leviathans. Dick Roman (James Patrick Stuart), meanwhile, buys SucroCorp and promises everyone natural corn syrup. Plus, Berly makes LA listen to a “ratings” clip she found, and the hosts ask for a favor: it’s been a while since anyone left a review, so leave one or share an episode on your socials.

Episode Highlights:

  • Dick’s news interview, plus a straight-to-camera smile Berly rewound three times
  • Barbecue plans for the reporter’s body, and a quick Leviathan refresher (how do they work again?)
  • Kevin (Osric Chau) gets offered a Princeton recommendation letter, then a much less friendly form of motivation
  • Bobby’s office hours move to the bathroom, and his Brad Pitt days are over
  • Crowley shows off a flaming table map, because a pencil and paper would not have sufficed
  • A gas station hot dog with way too much mustard, and Dean’s road food crisis
  • A pink room, a girl named Emily, and three vampires with the worst rug burn you’ve ever seen
  • The “vamptonite” donor who follows the boys’ conversation like a tennis match
  • Bobby cracks the motel safe code and makes a new friend
  • Rick Worthy’s Alpha Vampire, a champagne bucket with a surprise inside, and a Dick move at the end

Berly’s big critique of the season: the Leviathans and Dick should have been spread out more evenly, not “just the tip” every so often. She still loves James Patrick Stuart’s camp, though, and only wishes he’d winked. LA loved having the Alpha back. Berly loves Rick Worthy’s subtle delivery and his always-moving, snake-ready hand, and she wants more Emily. The gore is light: a decapitation, the rug-burn vamps, and a very precise fingernail cut.

In the lore segment, LA covers a HubPages guide to blood magic by Mackenzie Sage Wright. Blood stands for life, death, passion, and connection, which is why it’s so powerful in spellwork. The safety rules include: no more than a few drops, never take blood from anyone unwilling, and never drink it (sorry, Season 4 Sam). The article also covers candle, jar, and petition magic, plus some less glamorous alternatives the hosts will not be collecting. The boys, it should be noted, didn’t even sanitize their donor’s arm.

“What makes Dick so hard to beat?” – Gloria
