Season 10 Episode 12
“As long as God gives me strength to work and try to make things real for my children, I'm going to work for it - even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.” - Medgar Evers
Evers served in World War II. We he came home, he completed his formal education and went on to become the first field secretary for the NAACP in Mississippi. There wasn’t a day his life wasn’t in danger. He was gunned down in front of his own house by a member of the White Citizens Council.
His widow Wiley Evers continued the work. His brother Charles Evers joined the work. Thousands were inspired by his life and death to take up the fight for voting rights, civil rights, and the end of segregation.
We are at our best and most impactful selves when we believe in something enough to give it everything we have for as long as God gives us strength.
What do we believe in?
