This Book uses a comparative approach to analyze digital politics in seven Western democracies between 2006 and 2010. It examines both the supply side (how political actors use the internet) and the demand side (how citizens use the internet for political information). The study challenges existing theories by showing that the US is not a typical case, finding significant variations in online political behavior across countries and among different political actors. The research explores inequalities in online political participation and the relationship between online and offline political engagement. Finally, it assesses how factors such as electoral systems, party organization, and ideology influence the use of digital media in political campaigns.
