Nick Reed 01.31.25 - The Latest on the Helicopter/Plane Crash
Hour 1 -
Nick Reed & Sarah Myers are live at Scramblers Diner. Here's what Nick covers:
- Facts are still coming in after Wednesday night’s crash between a passenger plane and a military helicopter near Washington, D.C., a tragedy that is presumed to have killed all 64 airplane passengers and three service members aboard the chopper.
- Speculation has been flying about what could have led to a disaster, but one new revelation is sure to cause even more debate: a very similar episode occurred just the night before. Luckily, however, in that instance, tragedy was averted.
- A reporter from NBC, Tom Costello, asked NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy, "Does it hurt your investigation process to have the president already suggesting possible causes here as you try to keep in mind and begin this investigation?"
- Homendy wasn't having it. "Tom, with all due respect, I think the press also likes to state what probable cause is before we get to the probable cause. So what I'm going to say is you need to give us time."
- NPR contradicted its own reporting Wednesday on astronauts stranded in the International Space Station in order to fact-check President Trump.
