Until the age of 19, Rob Buckingham was a self-professed atheist and didn’t think too highly of Christians until his life collided, literally. While hitchhiking around Australia, Rob had a near-death experience in a head-on collision in a truck that collided with another truck. This led to Rob investigating Christianity and he ultimately committed his life to Jesus. Rob has had a love of radio for decades! He hosted successful radio programs in Western Australia and Victoria in the 80’s and 90’s, interviewing the likes of Whitney Houston and Lionel Ritchie, plus many well-known community figures. He also got involved with Light FM in Melbourne when it commenced in the early 2000’s and worked as the music director for many years. He founded Bayside Church in the early 90’s and is still leading the church with his wife, Christie today. Rob married Christie in 1994 and they have three daughters, Georgia-Grace, Paris and Trinity.
