Sergeant Peter Voto and Officer Gary Tedesco lost their lives in August 1963 while responding to a disturbance call at the Angel Lounge, a local pub. The suspects, who were former convicts in their mid-20s, had recently committed a robbery in Brooklyn, New York. To celebrate, they partied at the Angel Lounge, consuming copious amounts of alcohol and barbiturates, causing multiple noise complaints from neighbors. When Officers Tedesco and Voto arrived to quell the disturbance, they were viciously attacked, and their service weapon was seized. The assailants proceeded to pistol-whip the officers and ultimately shot them to death.
