Didn’t take long before flag pins and “we stand with Ukraine” tweets turned into a growing chorus from the neocons of “lets set up a no fly zone.” We need to be very clear about what a no fly zone means- it means US planes would likely shoot down Russian planes, and they would respond in kind. It would also require continuous flying of US/NATO planes to keep Russian planes out of the sky, with the constant threat of Russian SAMs shooting at them. Plus, in the background of all this is the specter of full scale war with Russia and nuclear weapons.
