शय्याम् आश्रितवान् कश्चन वृद्धः स्वपुत्रं प्रति कानिचन मार्गदर्शकवाक्यानि वदति । यथा सात्त्विकं जीवनं करणीयं, पापकार्याणि न करणीयानि, सज्जनसङ्गः करणीयः, दुर्जनसङ्गः परिहरणीयः इत्यादीनि । विषयं स्पष्टतया अवगमयितुं सः वृद्धः श्रीगन्धचूर्णं अङ्गारचूर्णं च आनाय्य प्रयोगमेकम् कारयति । केवलस्य बोधनस्य अपेक्षया कदाचित् प्रयोगेण विषयस्य अवगमनं शीघ्रं सम्यक् च भवति । तद्बोधिका कथा एषा ।

An old man offers some advice to his son. He tells him to live a righteous life, avoid sinful actions, seek the company of good people and stay away from bad company.
