A Boost

Description

“Every kick’s a boost.”

Rue McClanahan’s mother after being turned down and told she’d never work on television

Rejections happen. Setbacks happen. Losses happen.

When rejections happen, they aren’t a bad thing. They are just a “no”. You put in the effort and made something happen and someone else told you “no”. Now what?

Take that “no” and learn from it. Take that “no” and move forward. That “no” can either teach you or stop you from being great. You have that choice. Rejection is a placeholder for something greater.

Setbacks happen when you’re putting forth an effort to do something. Setbacks don’t happen when you’re being lazy or just chillin. As corny as this might sound, setbacks are meant to slingshot you forward. You have to pull an arrow back to shoot it forward. So use a setback to get yourself together and make something dope happen.

Everyone loses something. Even when someone or a team is undefeated, there is still something they’ve lost. I hate loses, but I always use it as a motivator. When I played football, watching game film was my favorite and least favorite time. It was my favorite because I got to see good things I did. It was my least favorite because all, and I mean ALL, of my mistakes were there for everyone to see and the coaches called me out for it.

What I came to quickly realize is that the best part was my mistakes. The best game film for me to improve was in losses. They had the most opportunities for growth and learning.

When you experience rejection, setbacks, or losses:

Get up. Collect yourself. Keep moving forward.

When you focus on the negative in tough times, that’s all you’ll see.

But if you focus on:

* How you can improve from the loss.

* How you can avoid that negative situation next time

* How you can learn from what happen

* How this opportunity just wasn’t for you and that’s the best

Ultimately you will have a much better path of success for yourself. Positivity breeds positivity.
