Who are you trying to please? Why are you trying to please them? What do you gain by trying to please these people or this person? What do you lose?

If it’s someone else that you are working to please, that means your happiness and success are extrinsic.

Meaning it comes from outside of you. Ultimately, that means the joy isn’t even yours to have. That also means it’s out of your control.

As an artist, you should be intrinsically motivated. At least in order to make anything worth making for yourself.

Find the motivation within yourself so you can be in control. Find the joy of creating what you create from within yourself.

I don’t make these videos and write these articles for others, I make them for me.

It gives me joy to write these thoughts out, talk to the camera, and record my voice in a room by myself. Or in this case, on a connecting flight to Buffalo, New York.

I love that it helps others, but I’m overjoyed that it gives me a place to release my creativity.

If you make something you love and no one else likes it at least one person likes it. However, if you make something just to make it and no one likes it you just wasted everyone’s time. More importantly, you wasted your talent on nothingness.
