Funny Thing
Description
"The funny thing about acting is that whenever you feel like you're done with it, something else pops up."
– Julianne Moore
The work may finish, but the craft is never done. There’s always something to prepare so you can sling shot yourself forward. You always have the ability to set yourself up for success.
The craft is never completed. There’s no completion to growth. There’s no end to learning. When you truly care about improving in your craft you are consistently building on top of the last thing you learned and the last thing you mastered.
There’s no end goal to the journey. You just keep going! There’s no top of the mountaintop. Once you reach a summit there’s just another one. Once you accomplish a goal, there’s another challenge that awaits you.
This can sound daunting, I know, but if you love the art of it this is actually gratifying.
You’re never done. You don’t grow out of it. It’s not a phase. You don’t ever have to give it up!
You know that feeling after finishing a great book or a book series? It’s similar to that feeling after watching a great TV series with eight seasons, ten episodes a season, and 55 minutes per episode.
It’s almost an empty feeling, a lonely one.
When you are honing your craft, you never have that feeling! You always have another page. Another book. Another episode. Another season.
You always have another because you’re always doing it.
