Morning Mantra: “People only see the decisions you made, not the choices you had”

We have all been guilty of judging someone who appears to have made a bad decision. But what we don’t know is what choices were available to them when they decided.

I know someone that appeared to have everything and chose to leave it all.  She took her kids from the big house, the private schools and the comforts of wealth and lived in basic poverty for years until she could scratch her way out again. Everyone judged her for that decision. “Why would she leave all that?”

But what they didn’t consider were her choices. Should she choose to stay in a marriage where she and her children were abused or should she choose to leave it all and take the comforts of wealth away from her kids?

When you know the choices, the decision is obvious. So let’s move through life with grace and compassion considering that maybe we don’t know the whole story. Maybe we would make the same decision if we had the same choices.

Don’t judge people for their choices they make when you don’t know the options they had to choose from.
