Description

In this week's interview edition of The Flagship Podcast, Berry Tramel, longtime columnist for the Oklahoman, shares his thoughts on the decisions of Texas and Oklahoma to leave the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference.

Tramel talks about Oklahoma's attempts to get into the SEC previously under then-president David Boren and how the Sooners have finally made the move under new OU president Joseph Harroz, Jr.

Tramel discusses the differences between Harroz and Boren.

What were the driving forces behind Oklahoma's move? Tramel weighs in.

Tramel talks about the how former Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops wanted nothing to do with the SEC in the past and how having Texas on board "made things a lot easier."

Tramel wonders how Texas and Oklahoma will handle moving from a league where they had an inordinate say in decisions to a "strong central government" in the SEC under commissioner Greg Sankey.

Tramel talks about how recruiting might have to change now that Texas and Oklahoma are joining "the pirate ship" in the SEC.

ESPN is clearly involved with Texas and OU's decisions, Tramel said. What isn't clear is if ESPN is involved in tearing down the rest of the BIg 12, Tramel said.

Tramel talks about the likelihood of Texas and Oklahoma getting out of the Big 12 as soon as possible.

Tramel also weighs on what's next for Oklahoma State in terms of the Cowboys' likely landing spot.
