Fortunately, her friend and mother, both of whom are also physicians, advocated for her care. As a result, she was treated adequately, and her medical condition was eventually confirmed. This is a clear case of medical gaslighting. Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse where a person causes someone to question their sanity, memories, or perception of reality. People who experience gaslighting may feel confused, anxious, or unable to trust themselves.
