The late Buddy Holly's glasses had been missing for more than 20 years when Iowa Sheriff Jerry Allen came upon them in a misfiled envelope. As a part of this episode, I spoke with Sheriff Allen's daughter Jennifer about that discovery and its aftermath.
This episode serves as a prelude to what comes next: beginning on Thursday, January 23, we’re going to go on that fateful tour with Buddy Holly and the others, with an episode per day from January 23rd to February 3rd, one for each show, as we follow those young pioneers of rock and roll on their ill-fated journey, a terribly planned criss-crossing tour of the Midwest: The Tour From Hell.
