कश्चन अमेरिकीयः घण्टामात्रं कार्यं कृत्वा घण्टाद्वयस्य निमित्तं वेतनं प्राप्तुं नेच्छति । खिन्नः सः यदा मित्रं वदति तदा 'तद्विषये संस्था चिन्तयतु, शिष्टं समयं सुखेन यापयतु' इति वदति । तदा अमेरिकीयः वदति - ‘तेन संस्थायाः हानिः भवति । तेन देशस्य अर्थस्थितेः हानिः भवति । अतः देशस्य उन्नतिः साधनीया चेत् देशस्थैः सर्वैः कार्यसंस्कृतिविषये अवधानवद्भिः भवितव्यम् एव’ इति ।

A certain American did not wish to receive payment for two hours of work when he could finish it within an hour. Disturbed, he told this to a friend. His friend replied, 'Let the company worry about this, and you can spend the rest of the time comfortably.'
