Most of us have learned about Brigham Young leading his followers, the Mormons, to establish their religious haven in Salt Lake Valley. But, I bet you many textbooks missed the little-known story of the Mormon Army of Nauvoo, also known as the Nauvoo Legion - a unique militia organized by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the mid-19th century before the events that usually make into the American textbooks.
