As I leave the trauma-womb I've been encased in for over a decade, I pause to ask "why?" Why did I need to go through all that, why did I need to take so much time, why did I lose the best years of my life, Why? Why any of it? I use the story, Toe Bone and the Tooth from the book Stealing Benefacio's Roses by Martin Prechtel as a perspective to returning from the depths with so little left to show for the arduous task.
