A NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

“A Plan for Success”

Scripture Reference: Proverbs 16:1-3

Introduction: The term “New Year’s Resolution” refers to:

v.1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.

Commentary: This verse reveals two distinct contrasts “the plans of man” and the “reply of the tongue” are contrast with each other. In other words, man may plan his thoughts in advanceto execute them, but the Lord is sovereign and may overrule man’s plans to accomplish His purpose and will for man’s life. We should always invite God to help us with our plans of the heart, thoughts. We do not know everything, but God does know the things that we do not know. We need His help or assistance to lead and guide usto what His will is for our lives.

1. A commitment with intentional change based on what has been learned through past experiences, practices, and procedures.2. The diminishing of an unreasonable reality by giving contemplation to one’s inability to move forward in the quality of life.3. A psychological assessment that results in a deliberate act to resolve and commit to a life that is more fulfilling and rewarding.• Preparations – the act or process of making something ready or getting ready.• Heart in man – refers to the inner or central desires, aspirations, or longings.• Answer of the tongue – refers to the conclusion or manifested outcome.• From the Lord – refers to God’s sovereign will and purpose of our lives.
