Scripture Reference: Luke 2:15-20

v.15 And it came to pass as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, let us now go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing which is come to pass which the Lord has made known unto us.

• The angels were gone – implies that the angels shared the message and left.

• Let us now go and see – speaks to the level of urgency in viewing what they’ve been told.

• Which is come to pass – speaks to the level of their faith in believing that what they heard had already happened.

• The Lord has made known unto us – speaks to what has been exclusively made known to them (i.e., the shepherds).

v.16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

• They came with haste – refers to their level of enthusiasm and excitement. In that the shepherds hurried, indicated the seriousness of the matter.

• And found Mary, Joseph, and the babe – speaks to the confirmation in what they were told is what has been realized. The test of their faith was their immediate response. The shepherds had obeyed the angel’s message with haste.

• Lying in a manger – refers the bread of heaven lying in a feeding trough. Yes, how appropriate it is for the true bread from heaven to be lying in a feeding trough for all mankind to eat from. Thus, Jesus has well said that He is the bread from heaven.
