By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba
Luke 3:12-14
Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?Ā 13And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.Ā 14And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.Ā
Acts 10:1-6
There was a certain man in CƦsarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,Ā 2A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.Ā 3He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.Ā 4And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.Ā 5And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:Ā 6He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.Ā
If God could tell the abode and designate the trade of Simon the tanner and definitely direct the centurion as to how he would find him living by the seaside, He also knows us by name, knows what is our trade or business, where we live, and what are our experiences. ā {Mind, Character and Personality p. 434.2}
Acts 10:33-36
Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.Ā 34¶Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:Ā 35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.Ā 36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)Ā
Acts 10:46-48
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,Ā 47Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?Ā 48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Romans 10:9-11
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.Ā 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.Ā 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
1 Timothy 2:1-4
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;Ā 2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.Ā 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;Ā 4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.Ā
Mark 16:15-16
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.Ā 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.Ā
Acts 22:16-17
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
