Morning Mantra: "You can pretend to care, but you can't pretend to show up."

Last weekend I attended the memorial service for someone I've know all my life. He was such a cool person but cancer took him way too soon.

This mantra quote by George L. Bell represents him perfectly because he was a person who always showed up. He felt that if you truly cared about a person or a cause, you show up. And he did. It was always a given that we would see him walk through the door of any big family party, wedding and funeral.

He showed me that when you care, you are there for the good and the bad. You are there to celebrate the wins, and to offer a shoulder in loss.

When it comes down to it, that's what life is all about: showing up for the people you love.... again and again and again, until you can't show up anymore.

I am really going to miss Donnie, but his lessons will be with me forever.
