Season 8 Episode 33
Advent Means Not Consulting Our Fears
“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.” - Pope John XXIII
Most of us are afraid of failing, of looking foolish. It’s tempting for us to give up and not try because we don’t want to be disappointed. It’s easy for us to operate out of our frustrations.
Yet, the season of Advent is about living with and in hope. Advent focuses us on our unfulfilled potential and becoming the best versions of ourselves.
We acknowledge our failures, but we learn from them. We take whatever lessons we can from them. Then we set them aside and move boldly forward.
We focus on our dreams, for ourselves, our families, our communities, our nations and our world. We feel the fear, but we go for it anyway.
Advent means not consulting our fears.
