As the first Black man serving as President of the Board of Supervisors for the County of San Francisco, Supervisor Shamann Walton θ―ι ε is the initiator of the CAREN Act, also known as the Caution Against Racial and Exploitative Non-Emergencies Act introduced and passed in San Francisco in 2020.

Councilmember Kate Harrison comes from three generations of women activists, fighting for justice and equity. As the Vice Mayor for the City of Berkeley, CA City Council, Harrison is the initiator of the ordinance that would expand the current Berkeley municipal code outlawing false reports to the police to specifically ban reports based solely on discriminatory reasons. The ordinance would also allow people to pursue civil action, such as seeking damages.
