Supernatural: Time After Time (7x12) | Recap & Lore

Season 7 Episode 12 Published 1 year, 10 months ago
Description

Supernatural Season 7, Episode 12, Time After Time recap ⏳ Dean gets zapped to 1944, teams up with Eliot Ness (Nicholas Lea), and looks great in a three-piece suit on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) calls in a case from Canton, Ohio, where young people are turning up mummified. Sam and Dean track a mysterious man in a fedora, and one of them ends up decades away from the other. Berly and LA admit the recap gets as tangled as the timeline.

Episode Highlights:

  • A cold open stakeout, a man in a fedora, and Sam’s windswept hair (worth the rewind)
  • Jody calls with a case and some very 1940s lingo
  • A self-medicating witness who gives the role everything he’s got
  • Rock, paper, scissors for the one decent room, which the hosts still don’t get
  • Dean gets booked in 1944, and the cops have no idea what to make of his phone
  • Dean meets Eliot Ness, and the Untouchable has a secret
  • Ezra Moore (Linda Darlow), who is basically Ness’s Bobby, plus a three-piece suit and rolled-up sleeves (the most important scene, per Berly)
  • A bottle of whiskey from Bobby’s stash, signed “R”
  • Dean pulls a Back to the Future III move, with help from a fake termite inspection
  • The great trash debate, and a villain with a surprisingly tragic love story

Both hosts loved the 1940s costumes, cars, and lingo, and making Eliot Ness a hunter was a creative twist. LA wants the three-piece suit back, and one for Sam too. Berly wants the villain’s love story in their spinoff idea. There’s no real gore, just Sam’s bloody hand again.

In the lore segment, Berly gives a quick history of Eliot Ness, the Prohibition agent who took on Al Capone with the Untouchables. Then LA digs into the god of time. Chrono Hunter’s blog tells the story of the Titan who castrated his father with a scythe, swallowed his children, and lost to Zeus thanks to a stone wrapped in cloth, with a detour to the Elysian Fields. Then Watch Crunch says that’s actually two different guys. The confusing lore turns out to be very on theme.

“You gonna look up more anime, or are you strictly into Dick now?” – Sam
