The Mendelssohn Choir's Holiday Season

Episode 710 Published 1 year, 5 months ago
Description
The holiday season is the busiest time of year for many choirs, but few face a schedule quite as intense as the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Music Director, Daniel Singer, goes behind the scenes of the choir's jam-packed December lineup, which includes 11 concerts in just three weekends with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. They will be singing Brahms Schicksalslied, Faure's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and a host of your favorite holiday pop and jazz songs. Daniel shares how the choir manages the logistics of performing all the repertoire, including the challenge of singing in multiple languages across three different days. He also discusses adding the Junior Mendelssohn Choir to the Holiday Pops concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, something that is new to the group this year. Daniel also discusses the successful Crossing Bridges preview concert they did earlier this season, and what is coming up after December for the choir. The Mendelssohn Choir will be performing with the Pittsburgh Symphony on December 6th and 8th in the Brahms and Faure concert. They will also be performing Handel's Messiah on Saturday, December 7th. The Junior Mendelssohn Choir will join the group for the Highmark Holiday Pops concerts, that run December 13th to 22nd. Get in the festive spirit with the Mendelssohn Choir!
