Season 8 Episode 21
Stop Trying to Be God’s Bouncer
“Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand" - Romans 14:4
Too many of us have gotten the mistaken idea that God has called us to be bouncers, judging who’s in and who’s out. That’s not our role.
Our role is to be convinced in our own minds that what we ourselves are doing is right. It’s not our job to make those decisions for others or to make them comply with our understanding.
We have been called to accept each other when we are all acting in good faith and good conscience. Acceptance doesn’t mean agreement. But it does mean setting our differences aside to focus on the things that help us build each other up.
Lastly, we should remember that each of us has to stand before God. The good news is that we will stand, because God’s love and grace stands us up.
