Being forgiven a debt, or being forgiven and reconciled after an offence committed, ought to create a feeling of gratitude and appreciation toward the one who has pardoned the debt or offence. With specific regard to debt, this feeling of appreciation should be especially evident when the one forgiving bore the cost themselves.
However, the trouble with many who claim to follow Jesus is sometimes we can almost feel a sense of entitlement; forgetting we have been forgiven of something we can't repay. The forgiveness we receive should result in a love expressed through great loyalty. The issue may be, that perhaps some don't realise what they've been forgiven of and what it cost God.
