While the Auburn Tigers presented a plethora of challenges for North Carolina simply from a matchup standpoint, the Tar Heel effort early was once again the downfall of a team seeking a marquee win on the early season. Johni Broome’s 23 points and 19 rebounds lead Bruce Pearl’s team to the 85-72 win in the Maui semifinal early Wednesday morning. Seth Trimble’s 17 paced Carolina but the lack of inside punch could not offset a poor offensive showing against a tall and athletic Auburn group. Rob Harrington and Dewey Burke join host Tommy Ashley for the Inside Carolina Postgame show to break down the loss.
