The Power of Prayer 🙏 in the Life of Jesus: Handling the Danger ⚠️ of Popularity (Part 2)

By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba

MANY PEOPLE WILL MISS HEAVEN BECAUSE OF THE LOVE OF HUMAN APPLAUSE AND APPROBATION

Matthew 7:13-14

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

John 12:42-43

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: 43For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Mark 15:15 ISV

So Pilate, wanting to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas for them, but he had Jesus whipped and handed over to be crucified.

THE LOVES OF POPULARITY UNFORTUNATELY COMPROMISES THE TRUTH. BEWARE OF SELF-SERVING PREACHERS WHO FOR POPULARITY AND MONEY’S SAKE WINK AT SIN AND FAIL TO REBUKE THE FLOCK WHEN IT GOES ASTRAY

Isaiah 58:1

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Timothy 4:2-4

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Romans 16:17-18

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

JESUS CONQUERED THE DESIRE FOR POPULARITY BY PRAYING THAT OUR HEAVENLY FATHER BE GLORIFIED AND BY LIVING A SIMPLE LIFE

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭58‬ ‭RSV‬‬

“And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.”

John 12:27-28

Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. 28Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

JESUS NEVER SACRIFICED TRUTH FOR POPULARITY NEITHER SHOULD WE SELL THE TRUTH AT THE CHEAP MARKET OF POPULARITY.

John 6:59-61

These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

John 6:66-68

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

John 8:32

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 17:17

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Proverbs 23:23

Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Song Dare to do right lyrics

Dare to do right, dare to be true!

You have a work that no other can do;

Do it so bravely, so kindly, so well,

Angels will hasten the story to tell;

[Chorus]

Dare, dare, dare to do right;

Dare, dare, dare to be t
