Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Percussionist of Sandbox Percussion  Victor Caccese .. We talked about the GRAMMY®-nominated ensemble Sandbox Percussion and their union with the Tyshawn Sorey Trio collaborating on a special Max Roach tribute, performed live. Together, the two groups will explore the extraordinary legacy of jazz pioneer Max Roach, who was born 100 years ago. Each group will perform its own set first, highlighting Roach’s impact across musical worlds. Then follows the world premiere of a through-composed multi-movement new piece by the Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Sorey in honor of Roach’s groundbreaking ensemble M’Boom, with the groups joining forces as a septet. A tour follows and we get into that and much more. Enjoy.
