कस्मिंश्चित् ग्रामे कश्चन परिवारः प्रतिवेशिगृहिण्या ग्राममगमनप्रसङ्गे परिवारं पाकसाहाय्यार्थं प्रार्थितः । गृहिणी नित्यं गृहद्वयस्य कृते पाकं करोति स्म । तस्याः पुत्रः एतदवलोक्य मातरम् अपृच्छत् यत् आदौ परेषां कार्यं कर्तव्यं खलु? तस्य जिज्ञासया प्रसन्ना सा परसेवायाः महत्त्वं, प्रतिवेशिनः कृते उष्णभोजनं श्रेयस्करं इति च व्याख्यातवती । बालः तस्याः भावम् अवगत्य सेवाविषये बहुमूल्यं पाठं पठितवान् । पश्चात् "विनोबा भावे" इति नाम्ना प्रथितः अभवत् ।

In a village, a cultured family helped their neighbor by cooking while she was away. The wife cooked for both homes daily. Her son, Vinu, noticed this and questioned the appropriateness of prioritizing the neighbor's needs. Pleased with his inquiry, she explained the importance of serving others and that hot food for the neighbor was preferable. Vinu understood her sentiment and learned a valuable lesson about service. He later gained recognition as "Vinoba Bhave."
