This is the last episode of the Massive Agent Podcast of 2019, and of the whole decade. What better way to end the decade than to point out all the ridiculous shit that real estate agents, mortgage loan officers, and marketers have done over these last 10 years. This week, we're recapping the worst real estate marketing tactics of the decade.

The real estate industry, and our society as a whole, has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. I wasn't even a Realtor yet at the beginning of the decade. I wouldn't get my real estate license until Jan 2011.

Just a short 10 years ago, social media was nothing like what it is today. Hell, the internet was nothing like what it is today. Social networks have come and gone (Google+, Vero, Beme, MySpace, and Vine to name a few) while others have come to literally dominate the way that humans communicate today.

During this time, Realtors have made attempts to get in front of more people so they could ultimately sell more homes. Some of those efforts were successful, and some failed miserably.

Some of the worst real estate marketing tactics of the decade involve coming in for an immediate ask, the moment you meet someone or connect with them online. This can be asking them to "Like" your Facebook Page three seconds after they accept your friend request, or sending them some automated message asking them to "check out" your website or some other self-serving request.

As you listen to this week's show, you're bound to cringe more than once; both because you've had this crap done to you, and because you've likely done some of this stuff too. I know I have.
