The Kenyan mediators of the Tumaini Peace Initiative have confirmed that peace talks between the South Sudanese government and opposition holdout groups will resume in Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday next week.

This follows a meeting earlier this week between South Sudan President, Salva Kiir and President William Ruto of Kenya in Juba, where the Tumaini mediation team was given a two-week timeline to address the remaining issues.

This was the discussion on Roundtable this week, Sani Martin hosted:

  • Hon. Pagan Amum, Chairperson of the opposition hold-out groups and leader of the Real SPLM.
  • Bishop Enock Tombe, Retired Bishop of the Anglican Church, representative of the faith-based groups and the South Sudan Council of Churches.
  • Edmund Yakani, Executive Director, Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO)
