Does the world really need more love? I do not think so. I think it needs more understanding, and they are not the same.

You can love a baby and still not know what it needs. Love without understanding is guessing. I am not black, so I do not carry what that carries, but I am disabled, and I have sat in enough meetings with social services to know what it is to be talked about rather than heard. In 2003, thirty six million people marched against a war across three thousand protests, and it changed nothing. So when people say now is not the time to talk about it, my honest answer is, then when. These are not bad people. They are unheard people.

One thing to try: Take one group you have an opinion about and go and understand them before you love them.
