Why the 'Spiritual Journey' WILL NOT Reduce Your Suffering

Why the 'Spiritual Journey' WILL NOT Reduce Your Suffering

Episode 31 Published 6 years, 2 months ago
Description

Will a spiritual journey take your suffering away? No. Chasing one nearly made mine worse.

I was forty and I was in Boots in town, and I broke. Bawling my eyes out in a busy shop. A stranger put a hand on my shoulder, held it, and asked how he could help. Later I read James Allen and I found meditation, and then I got attached to the whole thing. I wanted enlightenment, and I was unhappy because I did not have it. That is just a new attachment wearing better clothes. Aim lower and truer. Reduce the suffering a little each day.

One thing to try: Draw a line across a page. That is your mundane. Mark what is under it today, and pull one thing back up to the line.
