Sermon: Jesus the Messiah

Scripture: Luke 2:10-11

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of that will cause great joy for all people. Today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 

Tagline: The same yesterday, today, and forever. 

INTRODUCTION: The joy of the Lord is not for a few people but for all who will receive the good news. 

Good News...

• Forgiveness of sin (John 1:29)
• Adopted into God's Family ( John 1:12)

Great Joy...

Christian joy is a good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, which causes us to see the beauty of Christ in the word and in the world.  (Pastor John Piper)

The joy of the Lord is my strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)

God's Messiah...

Messiah: Anointed One, Deliverer, Savior... 

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give hime the name JESUS, because he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21)

CONCLUSION: When you receive Jesus, you receive joy! Joy to the world the Lord has Come!
