Ep. 681: No qualifying offer for Goldy - Did the Cardinals make the right call?

Season 4 Episode 681 Published 1 year, 7 months ago
Description

The Cardinals did not extend a qualifying offer to Paul Goldschmidt ahead of the deadline on Monday to do so. If the team had offered a QO, it could have gained a draft pick from whichever team signs him this winter. The risk, of course, was that Goldy could have accepted it to lock in a $21 million salary with St. Louis for 2025. In a year where the Cardinals are clearly looking to shed payroll obligations, that just was not a risk the club was going to take -- even if it stinks and is another sign that the Goldy era in St. Louis is ending rather unceremoniously. Also in this episode of B-Schaeff Daily, we discuss the Cardinals going 0-for-3 with no Gold Glove finalists ultimately winning their award this year.
